What does an overhaul involve?
Overhauls involve work on the core of your engine – the area which isn’t touched at standard servicing. It’s a complex procedure and can include the installation of new piston rings, bearings and gaskets plus boring out of the cylinders. Crankshafts and cylinder heads can either be replaced or reconditioned. 

One overhaul can vary dramatically from another, depending on the areas where your engine performance is less than it was.

Perkins engines are guaranteed to keep working for you for the long haul. Every Perkins engine comes with up to 24 months or 3,000 hour warranty, whichever occurs sooner.


The warranty is comprehensive and covers all parts and labour plus miscellaneous items such as the travel costs of engineers to repair the engine. The standard Warranty period for rotating electrical components across all engine ranges shall be for a period of 12 months from date of delivery of the engine to the first user. The benefit is that even if your machine is down, you will not be out of pocket.


There is also an option to buy a Perkins Platinum Protection policy to cover you beyond the standard warranty period – and core components such as the engine block and cylinder head come with a 36 month guarantee.

Every Perkins engine is built to last and every engine that leaves our factories is covered by a standard warranty, however you may want to extend the warranty period for your own peace of mind. Perkins Platinum Protection gives you the opportunity to do just that and extend the standard cover beyond the warranty period to as much as 10 years and 15,000 hours.
